Clothes Pin Board is complete

I was able to finish the clothes pin board yesterday.  I think it turned out really cute.  I attached the chip board birds, butterflies and dragonflies to the silver painted clothes pins.  After looking at it in final, I think the top line should be up closer to the top and more room between them.  It is a simple fix - it is literally stapled to a cardboard backing - so I may pull out the old Swingline and fix it before it is all said and done. You should be able to click the picture to see it up close. Really sweet - the fabric is pretty close in color to the table - just a touch on the pinker side.  I meant to take a picture of it on the table - maybe I will and post it later.

Whiteboard is complete - so precious!

Okay, I put the final touches on the whiteboard.  I painted the frame teal and added some clear bird, butterfly, dragonfly and flower accessories to match the decoupaged glass vase to hold her pencils, etc.  The vase is also in the picture.  The other three sides are flowers and butterflies and dragons.  I will also use these figures on her pin board so the three items will flow nicely. I think you can click it to view a larger picture.  I love the details of the I-phone and email emblems, etc.  And I love the washi tape.  This was a really fun project and I think she will find it so useful!

Liming Wax on Chest on Chest Drawer

Here are a few pictures of the chest on chest drawers, after stripping them.  I have not sanded them or anything.

Here is one of the drawers after applying the coat of liming wax, this is the stage where the wax dries for three minutes.

Then I used wax and buffed out the extra liming wax and the haze.  It will get a second coat of wax and then it will be complete.

Here is a comparison of the two drawers. The one on the left is the one that has been stripped only.  The one on the right has been limed and one coat of wax has been applied.

I really like it.  It is subtle and tones down the pink in the natural wood.  It reminds me of the popular again natural Hermes chairs.

Liming Wax has begun

I started liming the French furniture today.  I started with the top of the nightstand and its drawer.  The process is quite simple.  After stripping the furniture, I sanded it with a very fine grit sandpaper.  Then I wiped it with a dry cloth to remove any residue, and then I wiped it down with a slightly damp cloth; then let it dry.  I went over the furniture with my brass brush to bring out the grain, then applied the liming wax.  It was like putting Desitin on my furniture.  I applied it with a fine steel wool, let it dry for three minutes, then buffed off the hazy film with a clean cloth and some wax.  After it dried for a little bit, I applied another coat of plain wax.  You can stain the wood prior to adding the liming wax, but I chose to keep its natural finish.  I think the liming toned down the pink-ness of the furniture.

Whiteboard is complete

I decided I didn't like the pink on the whiteboard, especially since I am painting the frame teal.  I had another paper but one of them tore while cutting it, so I had to find another paper - the pink was the next closest thing.  The other wasn't ideal either, but I was trying to use what I had on hand.  So, I recut the pink frames with teal blue paper.  I think I like it better, especially since it will have a teal frame.

I finished the whiteboard.  Since washi tape is so popular to tack down pictures and things in scrapbooking, I decided to hold down the frames with it.  I think it turned out really cute.  I wrote on it a little bit just to show what each of the areas are for.  I am pleased with the outcome. Now I just need to paint the frame.  You should be able to click the individual pictures to see them up close.  So, the final frame categories are: Prayers (who to pray for), Today (!!!), Ideas (two wheels in motion), To Do, Orange - urgent, Email, Phone, Errands (Arrow).

Whiteboard progress

Today, I am working on a whiteboard.  It will be a picture frame whiteboard.  I am going to paint the frame a teal color also.  It is 19 x 36.  I put white butcher paper on the frame insert, framed it with washi tape, then made small frames to place on top of the butcher paper - for places to write lists (To Do, Email, Errands, Call, etc.).  I used little icons to indicate what each list is for. The heart is for To Do (a reminder to do your work with a joyful heart), Envelope for emails, Iphone for calls (orange), and an arrow for errands.  The other side will have frames, as well as a small one under the heart.  This is what I have so far.

Look how cute the Iphone is.  and Orange is gorgeous with Magenta and Teal!

Home Sweet Home artwork

Today, I finished the last of the artwork to hang beside the flat screen TV, above the turquoise TV stand. These are surprise gifts from me.  She loved the artwork and I thought it would be fun to try to duplicate it.  Here is the grouping.  I have a little bit of clean up to do, as well as paint the frames a chartreuse color. For the stripes, I chose a paint color from what I had on hand and closest to her wall paint. I cut the words with my Cricut.

Now I am working on the clothes pin board for her craft room.  Here is the mock up of it. I found this medallion fabric.  It matches the raspberry colored craft table pretty well (it is a touch on the pink side).  I painted the frame the same color as her teal drapes.  I also painted the clothes pins silver (it is what I had on hand - it should look okay because she will use her Dad's desk which has chrome accents on it).  I found these printed chipboard birds, butterflies and dragon flies to attach to the clothes pins.  They are part of the matching set of the (flat) decoupage birds, butterflies and dragon flies that I used to put on the glass vase that I made for her craft room/office.  I keep forgetting to take pictures of it, but promise I will soon. The little creatures have really beautiful colors on them, as well as glitter and teal glass beads. I thought the clothes pin board looked like birds on a wire and thought it would be cute to incorporate them too.  She said she likes birds and butterflies and liked the idea of them being on the clothes pins. Sorry for the blurry pictures.

Living Room Art Work

I  just finished cutting out some artwork for the living room.  If you remember, the inspiration picture for the tv stand / dresser, there were two pictures to the right of the television.  I made two similar to that.  I am making a third, a Home Sweet Home framed art.  The three pictures will be to the right of the television in a grouping - in the grouping, love will be above the ampersand, like the picture below, and to the right of it will be the Home Sweet Home art.  I have cut out the HSH art, I just haven't put it together yet.  The three frames will all be painted a chartreuse color. It is hard to tell, but the LOVE is in a metallic gold.  The background of the ampersand is turquoise and the ampersand is chartreuse.  I need to scoot the amp over a touch in the frame too , maybe the Love also.  Love & Enjoy!

The HSH sign will look a lot like this.

Final coat - dresser and table

The TV stand / dresser drawers and the craft table now have their final coats on them.  We had to bring the TV stand into photoshop to play with the color a bit to try to get close to the real color.  This is pretty close, at least on my monitor.  The purple table is so much fun.  Now I need to figure out what I am going to do with the French hardware - I'm thinking a silver tone but have toyed with the idea of chartreuse or a silver coated chartreuse.  I need to polycoat the wooden top and probably the top of the purple table too.  I really love them.  Terr did a great job and is really getting good with that paint gun.

I'm in Turquoise Love

The dresser and drawers have one coat of turquoise on them now.  They are so gorgeous.  The picture really does not reflect how beautiful the color is.  The drawer at the top of this first picture is probably the closest to true color. Beautiful! Once the second coat is on and the top is placed back on, and it is brought back inside, you'll be able to tell the color better.  Sorry for the fingers.
